Sun Beach Guesthouse, Prachuap Khiri Khan
Moving 6 hours south of Bangkok lies the fishing town of Prachuap Khiri Khan. With a promenade style seafront this little hideaway has never been an overly popular tourist destination meaning it still retains that wonderful Thai charm. The nearby beach of Ao Manao is a must-visit and lies just 2km from the town. Don’t worry, you can grab a tuk-tuk from just £1! Think lapping water against swaying palm trees. Become a frequent flyer
If you fly frequently whether for business or for leisure, you could see upgrades and rewards from airport lounge access to flight seat upgrades. Loyalty always pays off and although priority is usually given to gold members, if economy is full, being part of the airline’s frequent flyers loyalty scheme can often mean that you’ll be bumped up to first class without needing to do anything else.

Dress smartly
With almost any kind of favour, it really does pay off to dress smartly because it proves that you really do mean business. There are no promises that you will be granted an upgrade so don’t get shirty if you’re not, but being well presented, and well spoken and politely asking if there’s a chance of an upgrade can sometimes really make the difference.

Book your holiday extras in advance

Consider the time of year

So perhaps you’ve dreamed up your perfect holiday or maybe you’re already packing and ready to take off tomorrow! The key to mastering mobile apps is to not go overboard. Too many apps are overwhelming and you either end up using none of them or using them inefficiently. So we recommend you have a think about what you want to do with your photos, travel notes and maybe download the apps that are best suited to you. Then give them a test run on the plane or train and see how you get on.

All these apps are great at linking with other social networks and blogs. You can kill several birds with one stone and autopost your photos and short videos to Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr and Flickr streams.

Evernote
Evernote is an easy-to-use, free app that helps you remember everything across all of the devices you use. Stay organised, save your ideas and improve your productivity. Evernote lets you take notes, capture photos, create to-do lists, record voice reminders–and makes these notes searchable, whether are at home, at work, or on the go. The app allows you to create and edit text notes and task lists as well as add handwriting and sketches to your notes if you want to create a travel journal. One thing we love about this app is that you can search for text inside images and organise all your notes by tags. You can then sync these with your computer at home to create a shareable compilation of your trip.

VSCO Cam
This great app is one of the most comprehensive apps for photo taking for smartphones out there. The presets in the app trump the likes of Instagram and the sharing capabilities are endless. All tools within the app can be adjusted and customised to suit the feel you want to achieve in your photographs. These range from exposure, temperature, fades, vignettes and contrast to define your look. On holiday we all like to take a thousand off photos and that’s why we love the viewing feature that allows you to browse your pictures in different thumbnail sizes. Of course all images can be exported full resolution and shared with friends and family on social media.

Trip Journal
Trip Journal is the ultimate travel app to track, record, document, and share your travels with friends and family. Everyone loves travel photos and videos. Postagram
It doesn’t all have to remain digital! We absolutely love this app, and not many people know about it. Postagram turns your iPhone, Instagram and Facebook photos in to beautiful postcards delivered by real mail! So how does it work? Well you simply choose your photo, add a personalised photo of yourself if you wish, include a message and away you go. Great if you’re in the middle of nowhere and don’t have a clue where the nearest postbox might be, let alone how to ask for a postage stamp!

We’re not talking abseiling hotspots or zorbing destinations. No, we’re just talking about that wonderful piece of apparatus with two wheels that requires absolutely no petrol. Yes, it’s a bicycle! So we’ve been very good to you and put together the top 5 cycling holidays, their routes and what sights you will see to get you pumped, excuse the pun, for that next cycling holiday!

Rioja And Ribera Del Duero Bike Tour, Spain
Love to keep fit but love a glass of vino in the evening to unwind? How about the Rioja region in Spain! Not only will you be treated to delicious wines from the region but the local cuisine is pretty amazing too! Think tapas and patatas bravas. Organised cycling tours are available and rated at a gentle level and even include accommodation and gourmet meals. Oh and the weather is beautiful too!

Lake District Cycling Adventure, Patagonia
Here’s one you’ve probably never associated with cycling before. Patagonia. For the more experienced cyclists out there, these routes are rated at moderate to advanced. The route takes you around Patagonia and Altiplano with sights such as the Andes, lakes and glaciers. The tour also includes the National Parks of Lauca which is home to the Lago Chungara, the highest lake in the world. Still not swayed? How about the spectacular wildlife you will see on your way such as alpacas, flamingos and llamas!

Tea & Temples Cycling Adventure, Japan
And then we throw in another wild card, well not really, it’s pretty amazing its Japan! So this route starts in Kyoto where you’ll experience the calm of the Zen temples and gardens which lead off the beaten path across Japan’s coast following the island of Honshu. You will then have the chance to visit the island of Kyushu boasting many volcanoes such as Mt Aso. What’s so great about this tour? Thrill seekers will love the ride across the side of the caldera, full of volcanic craters and sulphur pools. Too much? That’s why the tour includes a well earned Japanese bath and fabulous local cuisine at traditional Japanese Inns at the end of the day.

Cuban Revolutions Cycling Adventure, Cuba
So then we move on to Cuba! Way off the beaten path, this route takes you to the less visited side of the island, through the heart and then on to Havana. The tours takes you through many historic cities taking back roads and cycling through remote villages and up to the mountains. Again, the end of the day will allow you to kick back and relax and maybe even sip on some daiquiris or mojitos.

The Danube Cycling Tour, Austria
Ok lets go a bit more local now, well, Austria. This route actually starts in Passau, Germany and moves its way along the countryside and river to Engelhartszell in Austria. You’ll be able to enjoy the beautiful scenic views of valleys and vineyards and experience European culture at its best. This tour also allows the option for detours and boat trips if you want to stray off the beaten track.

National Cheese Festival, Spain

More than 100,000 will flock to Trujillo in south west Spain this year which takes place 1st-5th May. Over 500 different types of Spanish cheese will be on display including the local speciality Torta del Casar. The six restaurants in the square will all offer traditional recipes featuring cheese from the local regions. If staying at one of the local villas, you’ll even be offered a bespoke tour of the festival with a local cheese expert!

Distortion, Copenhagen

You’d never believe this started out as a one day festival celebrating club life back in 1998. Now it’s a mammoth street party invading different neighbourhoods of Copenhagen! Paris Jazz Festival, Paris

St Kitts Music Festival, Caribbean

Each year the St Kitts Music Festival combines music, Caribbean culture with world class performance from a variety of music genres. Soundwave, Croatia

A truly intimate festival for people to come and dance, swim and relax together under the blue skies and sunshine of Croatia. Soundwave provides 5 full days and nights of music across boats, beaches and open air nightclub and has seen electronic artists Gold Panda perform in the past. Standard weekend passes are only £125 and the festival will run from 17th-21st July this year.

Lollapalooza, Chicago

Headlining big names from Kings of Leon, Arctic Monkeys and Calvin Harris, Lollapalooza in Chicago is the place to be this August. The 3-day festival will reach a capacity of 100,000 each day and see 130 bands and artists perform on eight stages. Helsinki Festival, Helsinki

Oktoberfest, Germany

The Oktoberfest is held annually in Munich and is one of the most famous events and the world’s largest fair. Some 6 million people attend each year and it’s a really big part of Bavarian culture. Stadsarchief, Amsterdam
The city archives of Amsterdam! In Dutch of course. Sound a bit dull? Well that’s where you’re wrong. The city archives in Amsterdam might be the biggest in the world, certainly much larger than the likes of London, Rome and Paris. The Stadsarchief is home to archives from Heineken, Concertgebouw and designer, Benno Premsela. The archives also have a rich collection of maps and drawings of the city from the 17^th and 18^th century as well as other mediums such as films and photographs from the time. The Stadsarchiev also holds regular exhibitions so be sure to check whats on when you’re visiting Amsterdam.

National Museum, Copenhagen
Not only the largest museum of cultural history in Denmark, it’s free too! Located just a stone’s throw from ‘Stroget’ in Copenhagen in a classical 18^th century mansion, you’ll be sure not to miss this one! The museum covers a whopping 14,000 years of Danish history from the Ice Age and Vikings to the Middle Ages. The National Museum keeps Denmark’s largest collection of objects from the ancient cultures of Italy and Greece, the East and Egypt. A must-see is the Huldremose Woman, whose well-preserved remains are estimated to date back to the first decade of the 1st Century AD.

Musée d’Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris, Paris
This is a major municipal museum dedicated to contemporary art of the 20th and 21st centuries. The museum collections include more than 8,000 works from art movements of the 20th century. Exhibitions highlight the European and international art scenes of the 20th century, as well as displaying monographic and thematic exhibitions of trends in today’s art. Temporary exhibitions run every six weeks and the permanent collection includes works by the likes of Picasso, Matisse and Rauschenberg.

If you’re visiting Paris, a good tip to know is that most museums are free on the first Sunday of each, so plan ahead but be aware, it can be very busy!

Berardo Collection Museum, Lisbon
The museum’s collection is representative of the fine arts of the 20th century and early 21st century, especially European art and American art. The collection covers major movements from surrealism to pop art, hyper-realism, minimalist art to conceptual art, presented in various media. It covers Portuguese modern and contemporary art in particular but is also home to works by the likes of Warhol, Margritte and Dali. Not only does the museum have an extensive permanent collection, but it’s also the host of various temporary exhibitions that change on a regular basis. Highlights to look for include Andy Warhol’s Ten Foot Flowers and Portrait of Judy Garland.

Museo del Prado, Madrid
Not only is this museum free but it is also considered to be amongst the greatest museums of art. The best-known piece of work on display is Las Meninas by Velazquez. It features one of the world’s finest collections of European art, from the 12th century to the early 19th century, based on the former Spanish Royal Collection, and unquestionably the best single collection of Spanish art. The collection currently comprises of around 7,600 paintings, 1,000 sculptures, 4,800 prints and 8,200 drawings so you’ll be sure to find something for everyone’s artistic tastes.

Thinking of purchasing a new suitcase this year? Hard or soft sided? A hard shell can add 10lb in dead weight but adds protection and security to the contents. On the other hand, a soft-sided case will look smarter for longer and is less bulky when storage size is limited. Don’t forget, 70% of suitcases at baggage collection are black. A coloured strap or ribbon on the handle of your suitcase will make it much easier to recognise.

Pre-book in order to get the best deals
In order to maximise your travel money, it is always advisable and best to plans in advance by pre-booking! Things such as airport hotels and airport parking can be very costly if booked last minute. How to sleep through your flight
If you have booked one of those dreaded night flights or want to start your jet-lag recovery early, take two hints. Eat a meal at the airport and take a prescription sleeping pill after take-off. Don’t take it before you’re airborne or you might have problems should the plane have to return to the gate.

Good afternoon and welcome to another edition of MyTravelMoneyTV. If you can’t wait for the Summer and are itching to put on a bikini or pair of trunks, we’ve come up with a list of fantastic options for a warm weather March, early Easter getaway. We often get asked by our visitors, “Where is hot in March” and whilst we’re no Michael Fish on the weather front, we’ve scoured the market, done our research and come up with a range of suggestions that shouldn’t break the bank.

So here goes, MyTravelMoney’s list of 5 hot destinations you could visit in March, offering some good deals, a touch of bling and value for money:

Barbados, Caribbean
Barbados normally ranks pretty high on the ‘Where is hot in March’ rankings and quite rightly so. Boasting some of the best beaches in the world, expect up to 9 hours worth of sunshine per day. So, get those Ray Bans out! If your Celebrity spotting, head down for a drink to the Sandy Lane Hotel, albeit expect to take a battering to your bank account. The Sandy Lane is normally frequented by the likes of Philip Green, Simon Cowell and Rhianna. In March, there will be a raft of package holidays, suiting all types of budget.

Remember: Barbados uses US Dollars as their local currency.

Las Vegas, USA
From gambling to pool parties, spectacular shows and food heaven, Las Vegas has it all. Quite simply, Viva las vegas! Prepare to put on a pound or two at the infamous Las Vegas Buffets. Or if your really going for it, think about picking up a ‘Buffet Pass’ which will let you eat as much as you like at multiple participating hotels.

Whilst we would recommend to stay on the strip to feel the full Vegas experience, if you want to save up to 40% on hotel costs, think about staying a block or two away. The Hard Rock Hotel offer reasonable rates, and it’s a 10 minute walk from the strip.

On the strip, our top pick is ‘The Cosmopolitan’ which we hear has a fabulously hip vibe. Check out Marquee Dayclub and Nightclub! Our Co-Founder Dan will be staying there later this month, and will do a more in-depth report.

Tel Aviv, Israel
Expect weather in Tel Aviv of up to 25 to 28 degrees in late March. Easyjet offer cheap tickets and in less than 6 hours, you could be topping up your tan in the Jewel of the Mediterranean.

Recently, Tel Aviv got voted in the Top 10 beach cities in the world, the sand and sea are magnificent, reminiscent of the Copacabana. At MyTravelMoney, we’re slightly biased as we have an office in Tel Aviv. Explore the Port of Jaffa, the nightlife in Rothschild Boulevard and if you’re feeling adventurous, hop on a Sherut, which will only cost you a couple quid, and head to Jerusalem. For high end luxury, check out the David Intercontinental. Flashpacking? Look at the raft of smaller, boutique hotels in and around Tel Aviv.

Marbella, Spain
Marbella is pretty hot in March, expect weather of up to 22 degrees. Of all our picks, it’s certainly the shortest flight and most affordable. Almost all budget airlines fly in to the Costa Del Sol. Perfect for a golfing weekend, retreat with the missus or party holiday with friends. Best way we can describe ‘Marbs?’ A lovely holiday with a touch of bling.

When travelling through Europe, you can make the most of top exchange rates with a Euro Currency Card.

Paphos, Cyprus
This sun drenched corner of Cyprus is a hotspot for the all inclusive, package holiday. Perfect for a sunny holiday in March to rejuvenate and get set for the summer. You can be guaranteed warm weather, British expat bars, fine dining and an extremely friendly welcome for Brits heading to this beautiful isle. Play golf? You won’t be short of options.
