Carnaval de Negros y Blancos – Pasto, Colombia

Dating back to 1912, the “Carnaval of Blacks and Whites” is a celebration marking the historical importance of slavery. Carnaval – São Paulo, Brazil

Rio de Janeiro’s carnival celebration, held in the middle of February, is the most famous celebration of Carnaval the world over. The best parades and the best samba schools can be found in this area, with a little less of the madness and mayhem of Rio.

International Kite Festival – Jaipur, India.

For the religious ones among you, the kite festivals are a celebration of thanksgiving and awakening of the gods. Imilchil Marriage Festival – Morocco

September 23 through the 25th will offer a unique opportunity to witness thousands of marriages in the Berber Tradition. Exotic music and colorful costumes accompany these three days of instant marriages en mass.

A Lantern festival celebrating the dead. If you happen to be in Japan in mid-August (the festival dates vary each year) don’t miss this beautiful festival in which thousands of lanterns are placed in the water. The streets are filled with lights and thousands of people in beautiful, traditional dress can be seen out in the streets.

La Tomatina – Spain

The running of the bulls in Pamplona is probably one of Spain’s best known festivals. La Tomatina, however, is a unique tradition held on August 31 in the town Buñoll will provide fun and a little less danger. It is a public food fight in which people toss over 25 tons of tomatoes at each other!
